The boat creaks beneath me,
a sound as lonely as whale song,
wood flexing against water
that stretches beyond sight.

Salt crusts my lips,
my skin, my clothes,
until I feel more crystal than flesh,
transformed by the sea’s slow alchemy.

Waves lift and drop the hull
in an endless lullaby,
while my compass needle swings
between uncertain points,
a thought searching for home.
