Holidaying in Sorrento each year for the past 5 years, we have enjoyed the stunning Amalfi Coast in Italy, with its cliff-side villages, pastel buildings, and sparkling blue sea.
We base ourselves in charming Sorrento, then ferry to Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, and wander narrow cobblestone streets lined with cafes and boutiques, or hike the famous Path of the Gods for dramatic vistas. We may tour ruins of an ancient Roman villa, or indulge in long al fresco lunches of fresh seafood, pasta, and local wines.
We learn about limoncello and sample this sweet lemon liqueur, marvel at the cathedral square in Amalfi, soak up some sun at a pebbly beach, while staying in a cliff-side hotel with infinity pool overlooking the sea.
The great thing about Italy is that it, and the people, have never become commercialised.
Italy is still Italian
