Conversations with my unique 5-year-old granddaughter
“What do you think happens when you get old?”
Niamh: “Bits fall off you”
“Why do you think your mum chose your name?”
Niamh: “Because we already had a cat called Daisy.”
Niamh: “Papa, can I have two sweets please?”
“Well, no, but you can have one.”
Niamh: “OK, I’ll have milk then.”
“Why do you like Wednesday Adams?”
Niamh: “She doesn’t show her emotions.”
“How does she do that?”
Niamh: “She keeps them in her pocket.”
“Did you go to church this morning?”
Niamh: “No, I just went to the toilet”
At Christmas —
Niamh: “Papa, Ronan got two gifts, but you only gave me one.”
“Yes, but yours was a large, expensive one.”
Niamh: “Well, could you take it back and get me two cheaper ones?”
Niamh is zany — I always expect the unexpected from her.
