Faces stinging to wind’s embrace,
beneath a sky, stretched and speckled
like an old canvas drenched in dusty paint.
Sunbeams peeking through candy floss clouds
to create blush-pink pillows
that drift aimlessly in a leisurely sky.
In the distance, the sugar froth puffs darken
signalling the approach of the wet season.
Within the hour, the first dark messenger
bobbles across a leadening canopy,
and a drop of rain
clings tentatively in time’s brief moment
until it cannot anymore.
