Poetry

In my aged mind, those happy times rehearsed
in a sweet carnival memory, a childhood summer.
Sunbeams peeking through cotton ball clouds,
faces stinging to air’s embrace.
The sky, stretched, like an old canvas
drenched in dusty paint.
A drop of rain, clinging tentatively
in life’s brief moment,
until it cannot anymore.
Serene winds whisper to trees,
and silhouettes of yesterday
are sketched in fading light,
pushing against the walls of reality.
Forgotten shades of blue skies,
and soft clouds with gliding shadows.
These memories flitter
in the hallways of my mind.
