In fading sunlight, emerald facets fall
in shadow, greys on blue,
while melds of teal and turquoise
blush on white sand waters,
whose soft whispers lap the shore.
A red sunset bleeds onto a blue palette
as day acquiesces to the might of night.
I watch as the heavens cry.
and stare up at the droplets
falling from a sobbing sky.
As night absorbs the essence of light,
artists’ shadows kiss green leaves,
sketching silhouettes with blackened inks.
Vermilion tints the horizon
where clouds are dappled purple and grey
to roll across a murky sky.
