Become a writer for Plainly Put
Interested in becoming a writer for “Plainly Put”? We welcome contributions from passionate individuals who share our vision. To apply, follow these steps:
Email Application: Send an email to tom.kane00@gmail.com with the subject line “I would like to be a writer for ‘Plainly Put’.” Please include your Medium profile link for contact.
Draft Submission: Attach a draft of one of your article submissions. Your draft should align with the mission of “Plainly Put”. The subject can be any you choose — Poetry, science, technology, medicine, humour, listicles,life stories etc. The only caveat is that it should be in a style readily understood by the non-academics amongst us, that is, in Plain English, plainly put.
Review Process: We will carefully review your submission, assessing its quality, relevance, and alignment with our publication’s goals.
Decision Notification: After reviewing your submission, we will promptly email you with our decision. If your application is approved, you’ll be welcomed as a writer for “Plainly Put.”
Publication Rules
To maintain the quality and integrity of our publication, we have established a set of rules for our writers. Please adhere to these guidelines when contributing to “Plainly Put”:
Write in clear, plain language to make any complex topics accessible to a general audience.
Use Medium’s editor for layout, distinguishing large “T” for titles and small “t” for subtitles.
Include an open-source graphic (e.g., from Unsplash) after your title, with a maximum of two graphics per article.
Limit submissions to one article every 24 hours.
Avoid plagiarism or using someone else’s work without permission and proper attribution.
Do not publish AI-generated articles.
Refrain from sharing abusive, hate speech, or pornographic content.
Engage in respectful discourse with readers and respond to comments promptly.
