I’m a great believer in being tech-savvy, even as an old wrinkly.
Modern technology can seem daunting and confusing to many seniors, but it can also offer many benefits and opportunities. Technology can help them stay connected, informed, entertained, and independent.
As well as the usual smartphones and tablets which can check the weather, set reminders, play trivia, control smart home devices, and more, there are:
Wearable devices and health apps: Monitor and track various aspects of health and fitness. Measure heart rate, blood pressure, sleep quality, steps, and more. They can also receive alerts and notifications if something is wrong.
Online platforms and communities: These can provide social support and engagement. Use them to join groups, forums, chats, interests and hobbies. Learn new skills, share experiences, make new friends.
We should not be afraid of modern technology, but embrace it.
